Known Bugs

Aug 1, 2010 63

This is the list of currently known bugs as of the latest version (1.5.3).

If you think you may have found a bug, then please report it here! :)  I’m passionate about making Manage a bug-free zone.

Of course, you can also just contact me at manage@kerofrog.com.au to report a bug.

A status of Open means that I haven’t fixed the bug yet.  A status of Closed means I have fixed the bug in the current beta version of Manage.

DescriptionReason / ReplicateResolutionStatus
B1Scribble pad being cut off when selecting 'New Scribble Task' button. This occurs when a large list is scrolled down and the 'new scribble task' button is tapped. Resulting in the Scribble Pad being cut off by the top of the screen. The tableview now moves to the correct position before opening up the ScribblePad.Closed
B2Any archived tasks are not being sent up to toodledo when doing a full replace to Toodledo sync.Send them up to toodledo :).Closed
B3Lists sometimes not correctly updating after syncing with Toodledo.Due to multi-threading, the database is sometimes locked. Meaning that an update is blocked.Set up shared cache on the sqlite database.Closed
B4Priority sorting is not behaving correctly.Sort by priority to reproduce.Need to make sure the sorting goes in order of - critical (red), important (yellow), normal tasks then completed tasksClosed
B5Certain completed tasks in archives are being synced back to toodledo as uncompleted tasksReason: Completed timestamp isn't being correctly grabbed from toodledo.

Replicate: Do a full local replace sync from toodledo, then archive toodledo completed tasks. Then do a normal sync.
Correctly grabbed the timestamp and now syncing correctly.Closed
B6Very rarely Manage will repeatedly shutdown as soon as it starts up.I have worked out why this is happening and have corrected it in the next update for Manage.

However, if this is happening to you, then please still contact me directly so I can look at the crash reports.
Contact me directly at cliff@kerofrog.com.au and I can correct this issue for you.Closed
B7Titles for lists in the default sliding view will sometimes not display correctly for the selected list. Thank you to William for reporting this. This can be replicated by: 1. Switch from sliding view to tile view 2. Add a new list 3. Switch back to sliding view. This is just a display issue, and can be resolved by force quitting Manage on your iPad. I'll be fixing this issue in the next update of Manage.Closed
B8Completing repeating tasks in the pocket reminder is not correctly creating the new repeating task. Also, completing repeating tasks in the 'List View' is not updating the pocket reminder.I've now fixed this in the next beta version of Manage :).Closed
B9Adding tasks using the 'end' order setting will revert them back to 'insert at beginning' setting when restarting Manage.I've fixed this in the beta version of the next update of Manage.Closed

I think I am encountering bug B6. As soon as I open the appon an iPad2 it tries to load the lists and shuts down again (within 2 seconds). Quite disappointing – I only purchased it a few days ago!
Any ideas how I get it back to working without losing data?

    Thanks!

    • Cliff says:

Sorry about that :( . I’ve isolated it now and it has been fixed for the next update. Contact me directly and I can update a setting in the database that will fix this for you.

  3. Sandy says:

I just installed this app and tried to create my first list and it froze up, I can’t get it to do anything. Any advise?

    • Cliff says:

Force quit Manage by double tapping your home button (in iOS home screen) to bring up running apps, and then hold down the Manage icon to bring up the ‘-’ symbol so you can force quit Manage. Manage should run correctly after the restart.

That being said could you please contact me at cliff@kerofrog.com.au so I can get a copy of the crash report (as this might be a bug I haven’t encountered yet), which will allow me to see why this occurred to you. Cheers :) .

  4. Bill Wittland says:

I’ve used the app for over 5 months… now it won’t launch. I’ve restarted my iPad, etc. Can’t get the app to launch.

    Please help.

    Thank you.

    • Cliff says:

As a heads up to anyone else, open up settings and set archiving to ‘Manually’. It’s the auto archiving that is causing the issue sometimes when it tries to archive a sub task.

I can fix the issue on my end by simply changing the Archive Setting within the DB for you.

You just need to get a copy of your ‘Manage’ and ‘Scribble’ folders using iTunes file sharing, zip them up and send them to me at cliff@kerofrog.com.au. I’ll update the DB for you and send back a complete ‘Manage backup’ which you can use to continue running from where you left off with all your tasks and hand-drawn notes intact.

I’m working hard this week to get the next version of Manage out, which has a good amount of updates and also fixes this issue.

  5. Rachel says:

I’m having an issue with the order of my tasks resetting when I close out. I set the tasks to end so that the order is what I type in goes under what I just added and it works fine until I log back in then it’s order has changed…
Example cause I’m not good at explaining.

This is how I want it….

    Clean the kitchen
    Empty the dishwasher
    Clean the counters
    Sweep
    Mop

But when I sign back in it changes it to this…

    Mop
    Sweep
    Clean the counters
    Empty the dishwasher
    Clean the kitchen

I check my genera settings when this happens and it is still set to end…
Can you help me with this please?

    • Cliff says:

Thanks for that report, it looks like this is a bug with the current version of Manage. I’ve gone ahead and fixed it in the beta version of the coming update, which I hope to release in a week or two.

  6. Rachel says:

Wow, that was quick! I look forward to the update. Thank you!

  7. David says:

Hi. My app has frozen whilst reviewing a list. Do you have any suggestions for me to reset? Thanks David

  8. Mike podsedly says:

    Cliff,
I just started using the app. After making a number of lists, I went back to the app and the list titles don’t line up with the proper list. The view with all lists looks correct but the individual list view is out of synch. It does appear that the toodedo synch has the correct titles.

    Thanks, Mike

  9. Cliff says:

No need to worry, it’s just a display bug. The titles in the database are all still correct. Generally just switching over to the thumbnail/tile view then switching back will line them back up again.

The annoying part is that it’s a bug that I can’t replicate reliably. Get back to me if you find a way to reproduce this issue ;) . Cheers!

  10. Nigel Gray says:

Hi Cliff, I’m still experiencing B4 -when I sort by Priority all the non- highlighted tasks show first, then red, then yellow – so the tasks I have the set with priority are at the bottom?
I would expect the Priority sort order to be red, yellow and thenbnon-highlighted.
    Thanks,
    Nigel

    • Cliff says:

Yep, the ‘completed’ status just means that the bug has been corrected in the beta version of Manage (I’ll remove any listed bugs that no longer exist in ‘released’ versions). So, you will still experience it in the current release version. I’m actually going to be releasing a version of the beta for user testing today. If you’d like a beta copy (just need to report back any issues you encounter) then just send me an email at cliff@kerofrog.com.au and I’ll give you the details to set it up.

  11. Peter says:

Just bought the app today on my iPad and spent the day inputting all my tasks 100 of them. Tapped the + pen sign in top right hand corner and now the whole app has frozen. Very frustrating. What can I do? your suggestions above on the iPad don’t result in a minus sign for ending multiple tasks but rather an x sign for deleting the whole app. I don’t want to do that as I fear I would only have to buy the app again and I will lose all the data already input.

    Peter

    • Cliff says:

Ack, sorry to hear that Peter :( . I’ve sent you an email with instructions on how to force restart a multi-tasking app (Manage). If this doesn’t solve the issue, then I’ll take it a step further and manually correct it for you.

  12. Peter says:

Cliff, many thanks for the prompt response. All OK now so much relieved!!

  13. Veros says:

App shuts down immediately after opening. So in fact it does not open at all. Can you fix this please?

    • Cliff says:

Oops, bad timing :( . My apologies for the delay, I’ve been at a conference with no internet access the last 7 days. I’ve sent you an email so we can get this fixed for you. Thank you for your patience :) .

  15. John Kiernan says:

I just started getting an error when syncing to Toodledo:

    “Error: Excessive Tokens”

“Please check your Toodledo account details in (Settings->Synchronize)…….”

    • Cliff says:

Toodledo limit the amount of tokens requested to a maximum of 10 per hour ;) . Just wait awhile until the hour is up and new tokens will automatically be allocated.

Generally the token persists so you can do more than 10 syncs per hour, but in this case something must have happened to require a new token to be requested more than 10 times within the space of an hour.

  17. Brady says:

I am having problems with Toodledo sync. some of the tasks are shown on their appropriate lists, but others go to a list titled “toodledo”. Out of 99 tasks, 87 ended up on this toodledo list. I have deleted the lists and re-synced, Have deleted the lists and done a full sync (replace local) three times. Nothing seems to give me the tasks I have entered on toodledo on appropriate lists. I am hoping you can provide a resolution….. this app is worthless to me without sync.

    • Cliff says:

That Toodledo list that Manage creates is just a ‘holder’ for tasks that are not assigned to any folder in Toodledo.

The reason for this is that Manage groups all tasks within lists, and there is no such thing as a task without a list. So when syncing with Toodledo, those tasks that don’t have a folder need to be placed in a list… which I named ‘Toodledo’.

Generally the way to resolve this is to sort your toodledo tasks into folders so that Manage can correctly grab the ‘folder’ and create a corresponding list :) .

  18. Vernon Hatch says:

My problem is that when I toggle back to the notebook page and sometimes other pages, the whole right window will go mostly white (a big square) and I cannot remove it. Sometimes there is a faint date on the top. I can’t type on it or anything. It won’t go away and I have to reload the app.

    • Cliff says:

      Hey Vernon… wow, that’s just crazy. :O…

See if you can keep an eye on it and see what steps can be used to reproduce it. If it continues to happen, contact me at cliff@kerofrog.com.au, and we’ll get screenshots and a backup of your Manage data so we can find out what might be causing this.

  20. Paul says:

Can’t delete tasks from list. Tried both methods (swipe and Edit), click on Delete and nothing happens.

  21. Rob says:

    Hey Cliff,
Great looking app. I am working with it for some time now to manage my tasks.
Just discovered there is an option to make notebooks (dont know how long it was already there).
It’s a great extra option. But … either I don’t know how it works or what it should do or there is some kind of bug in it. I can add new notebooks, link a tag to it but that’s all. There is no way I can write anything on the notebook.

    Hope you can help.
    Rob

  22. Rob says:

    Ahh … now I see
The name put me on the wrong foot.
Thought it had something to do with making notes like the app “pen and paper”.

    Thanks for the reply.
    Rob

    • Cliff says:

Hmm… good point. I should ditch the notebook name and maybe call it projects or folders…

Oh, speaking about making notes, that’s coming next. ;) … Nearly finished, actually have a deadline to have it done before iOS 5 is released. Basically you will now have a much smoother drawing experience and have the option to create ‘notes’, which are exactly as you described, a full list size piece of paper than you can scribble your own notes, with undo/redo support.

  24. Rob says:

Hey Cliff, thats great news !!
Can’t wait to see the next update :-)

  25. Jeff says:

Just started using this app. Really like it. One thing, when I mark a task list completed, it is applying completed stamp to all my other lists even though they are open.

  26. Cliff says:

Thanks for that Jeff. Just had a play with it and was unable to replicate :S. Was there any other information you could provide that could help me replicate the issue?

  27. Jeff says:

Thanks. I have not been able to recreate after I archived the first list. Continue to use this more and more at work — helping me get over leaving my Franklin Planner behind. Today when I started putting subtasks in they did not indent from the parent task. Have tried it several times. I’m using I-pad 2, current version of the software. not syncing if that makes a difference.

  28. Jeff says:

Cliff, just tried it tonight again and all subtasks worked. New items and current list items. Seems like something changed, but all is well now. Thanks.

  30. Giorgio says:

The calender of the due date by adding a new task is wrong. The week starts on sunday, start of the week shoud be monday. The same error is also by changing the creationdate of a list. THX for the bugfix.

  31. Cliff says:

** Scratch **, I use a calendar plugin which uses Sunday as the start of the week. Although of course, if need be I can hack it and change the start of the week day ;) .

I’m curious though as to how many people would be interested in this. Hmm… ah, I’ll put it up on the ‘Feature List’ poll to see what others think :) .

    thx mate.

  32. John says:

I just updated my iOS and all update I had on my ipad2. Now I can’t get it to stay open after having a hard time trying to open it in the first place. I just purchased the iPad 2 and never had this problem before the iOS update or updating all of my apps. Could you please advise me on what to try to correct this problem as I use this app on a daily basis? Thank you!

  33. Kara says:

I am trying to look at the special themes, possibly to purchase. But crashes every time I try to access them.

  34. Jeremy says:

Creation Date always reverts back to October 19, 2010 even after it is changed.

  35. Helen Davock says:

I cannot add a subtask. It is not in the drop down list (as seen in your video help) when I select a task.

    • Cliff says:

Oops, :S… need to get that vid updated.

The button to add subtasks has moved to the top left of the nav bar.

Just a bit preoccupied with newborn atm :( , will update the vid as soon as I can. :)

  36. Elizabeth says:

I tap on the icon to open the app and it will start to open for a second. Then it closes. I have to click multiple times to get it to open. The name chsne also through me for a loop. Guessed i missed that memo. I am afraid i will lose my data.
    Thank you

    • Cliff says:

Ack, sorry about that Elizabeth :( . This seems to happen to the 1 in 10,000 user every now and then.

Don’t worry about your data, it’s safely stored in a database. Just make sure you don’t delete the app yet :) .

Ok, if you open up iTunes and connect your iPad, you can then scroll through the list of apps and find Protaskinote on your iPad.

From there, just copy over the ‘Manage’ and ‘Scribble’ folders to your computer, zip them up, and send them to me at cliff@kerofrog.com.au

I can then convert them over to a readable backup for Protaskinote for you to use, after you have deleted and re-downloaded a fresh copy. :)

  37. Dave Holland says:

The app still doesn’t update. It hasn’t worked for a week or so now, and your latest fix that claims to have mended it hasn’t.

I am not sure what to do as if I uninstall and try again apparently I will lose all my data.

If you can make it work on an iPad 1 that would be great, thank you.

    • Cliff says:

      Sorry man :( .

This happens to the odd user or two and I believe it’s something to do with a failure in the update process.

Get in touch with me at cliff@kerofrog.com and I’ll take you through the steps to make a backup copy of your data, so you can delete it and download a new copy :) .

  38. Nino L. Carrasquillo says:

How can I see and edit my notes in full page view and not in a little box in the upper right hand corner?

Please help that is so annoying. Remeber I am not looking to see my summary of notes in a full page view, but I want to edit and see my notes in a full page view.

    Thank you!

    • Cliff says:

      Sorry man :( ,

I can definitely add something like this to the todo list :) .

Could you go into a bit more detail on whether you are referring to notes relating to tasks, or hand-written notes?

  39. Juan torres says:

I bought remove advertising but it seems was not removed! How i can remove it?

Thanks in advance for your help

    • Cliff says:

There is a ‘Restore’ button in the in-app purchase sections that will reconnect to Apple and apply any failed downloads :) .

Apple keeps a transaction receipt if the payment went through successfully.

  40. Alejandro Flores says:

It’s no opening, avery time i try to open the app it instantly close

    • Cliff says:

Get in touch with me at cliff@kerofrog.com and i can help you with this issue.

This occasionally happens when the app is updated and the app gets interrupted for any reason as the database is being updated.

Sometimes a few resets of the iPad corrects the problem, but failing that, a reinstall of the app is required.

I’ll send an email over to you as well, to help walk you through the steps.

      Sorry about the crashing :(
